Exams....Revision...What a Chore!!

As many of you may be aware exams can be daunting, and a lot of stress is put upon us to study hard for an eventual path towards our everlasting future. GCSE's, A levels and even university degrees are deemed so important that nowadays a grade B candidate would struggle to find a job in this new eye opening society. The 'older' generation tell us that passing exams is as easy as riding a bike: once you have failed the first couple of times the journey ahead is a breeze. This reality however has changed and with more and more teenagers/ young adults not revising enough or finding school work incredibly hard with little or no help to assist them, there is less chance of well... Succeeding in life.
Times have changed rapidly. I am a teenager at the bottom of a ladder with obstacles and endless exams to climb over. The first task I have to overcome is GCSE's, and whilst we learn as much as we need to learn at school, the reality for most of the teenagers at my age is that they are just a couple of exams... 'Big deal..' The real reality is that they are a small step towards a career path. A small step towards adulthood. A small step towards our future. It's not something we think about at a young age. Nowadays, revising for exams is a chore; it is something we don't have a choice in but takes up most of our spare time. Whilst I revise away in my bedroom, I always think of what the right career path is for me; am I taking the right GCSE's? What are my options for the future?...The answer is always 'I don't know.' At school we are also asked these questions but not many people have the answer.  Wouldn't it be great if you were one of those lucky few who had their career all planned out? "Ah yes, well when I complete my A level studies in Biology, Chemistry, and Further Science's, and get all A grades, I will go to Oxford University and take many science degrees to achieve my goal of becoming a scientist and finding a cure for all types of cancer.."
If only it was true...
A lot of the time making the right decisions is a struggle. In the end, it always leads down to that one exam where maybe you didn't revise for it as much as the previous one, and you get a lower percentage/grade in doing so. That is where the difference lies between accepting you or another person into college or university because they got a couple of marks more than you because they revised that extra bit. What teenagers and young adults do not realise is that EVERY exam is important. To succeed, one must have the willpower to ignore all distractions and revise every subject in detail working on their own strengths and weaknesses. It is the ability to concentrate and not just say 'I'll do that later...' Taking actions now and on the spot can help us as teenagers and young adults to move further towards getting into university's, colleges and other education. Yes I still think revision is hard and the exam board standards are extremely difficult to cope with, but even starting revision just a tiny bit earlier may help you, as well as myself, to achieve the grades we want even if they are not the subjects we want to progress into more at a higher standard. It shows universities you are able to work hard to achieve high grades to get you where you want even if you realise at a later stage they are not your subject choices anymore. Once the exams are over you can change your choices. It shows everyone that working hard will get you somewhere. All we have to do is to try our best and support each other along the way when it becomes challenging and difficult to balance everything including revision all at once. One exam gets you one step further in life.
Don't just sit there wishing your life away. Exams are hard: revision is a chore. We have to work hard despite knowing what we want to do when we are older.
I know it is for the best despite my constant moans and complains.
I'm only a teenager after all! I hope this helps you realise the importance in exams no matter how big or how small they are.
And with nothing more to say, this message is from a young blogger in her bedroom... Start Revising!
Best wishes,
Rachelsworldblog :)
